Lasting Legacy
Grandma Bread
It originates from a recipe of potato bread that my grandma started making back when dirt was new, the depression was in full effect, or milk was to hard to come by.. It's a dieing art form to carry forward what was done in the past. From what I understand there are only two people left who know how to make the bread we affectionately call "grandma bread." It got it's title over the course of time due to the fact that grandma was the only one who could make it, or at least make it taste the way she did. That and even if she hadn't made any in a week or two her home smelt of it constantly.
It had been so long since she had made the bread off of a piece of paper that, she only knew it through feel taste and time. So before passing away the art was passed to two of her daughters.. Neither of which were my mom. She can't make toast without some how messing up, but she tries. No, my aunt is in town helping my mom with her broken leg, so I will take this time to learn all I can about how to make this bread since they're all getting older.
I think in my own off way that's why I started making bread in the first place. It's a way to connect with someone who is no longer there to share time with you, but their gift weather it be of knowledge or the taste of a old bread recipe will always be with you, as long as you let it.
I know what your thinking, "what the hail is potato bread?"
Instead of using milk for your liquids you take a potato and boil it in water for the starch and earthy taste. Past that I have know idea as of yet how it differs from the current recipes I use.
It's not so much that the challenge is making the bread.. It's that there's a story behind it, there's a standard to go with it, and no one ever thinks they can make "real grandma bread."
So I'm going to make it after work today. It being my Friday thou I'll try to get to a computer some where and let anyone who care's to know if it all worked out or not.
In other news.. this whole thing with C__ and me I feel has reached it's maximum amount of sucky, hopeful things start going back to a good place for us soon.. Less yelling more lovin ya know what I mean.
C__'s mom AKA mom in-law is still living with us, I just tell myself one day at a time. C__ talked to her yesterday about pitching in for some bills and stuff we all use and she said it seemed like she got mad. What because C__ lived in her home since birth she now owes her mom free living. uumm no that's not how it goes, not until she's old and crazy... crazier.
Beep ba beep beep beep... news flash
So while gone to the other location I had to got to today I left my water and a package of peanut butter crackers on the other desk.. When I get back to the desk.. water's there.. where's my crackers!
That's right they're gone, the guy who was here in the middle there gave them away! He said he didn't think they were anyone's and some guy was complaining of being hungry or something.. but still they were mine, so now I'm goanna get all whinny and mad... but not, because it's a little funny at the same time.
See while at work eat about ever two hours so I figured I could just leave them here, but I guess not

Ok that's done..
Damm that's funny I just had a lady try to sneak Girl Scout Cookies out past me.... No really Girl Scout Cookies, doesn't that brake some kind of Girl Scout pledge to be sneaky? What was I goanna do? Take em away from her? Tell that she was taking cookies out of the building without a valid property pass? Beat her up until she told me where she got them? Honestly people, you already bought the things, someone brought them in through some entrance and now you just trying to get the Thin Mints and Peanut Butter Cookies home. I don't care... just go. It's not a really big deal unless Thin Mints have started coming with cameras in them like everything else in the freaken world.
On a side note thanks to all of you who actually came and left a comment. I know the posting is few and far between for me lately, but it feels good that you guy still come to see if anything's new.
